I don’t know about you guys, but when I develop a routine I take it very seriously. I follow it pretty strictly and run around like a chicken without a head if I’m knocked off of it. I’m still trying to wake up earlier, so expect this to change in the next couple months.
If you guys have any ideas of ways to get myself out of bed first thing in the morning, please leave them below!
My (Work Day) Morning Routine
At 6:15 my first alarm goes off. I actually sleep with my Apple watch on so I can use it as an alarm. It was one of my favorite parts of my FitBit and I’m glad I can still do so with the watch. If you guys know how to get it to properly track your sleep, please let me know! I am still trying to figure that part out.
I do my best to get out of bed at 6:30, which is when my second alarm goes off. Between 6:15 and 6:30 I’ll either roll back over for some extra minutes of sleep or sit on my phone catching up on any news, etc. that I missed over the night. I know it’s a bad habit, and I’m trying to switch it out with mediating!
After I get out of bed I go straight to the bathroom to wash my face and do my makeup. If you’d like to see what makeup I wear every day, you can read this blog post! While I’m doing my makeup I will typically watch some YouTube videos.
I’m typically done with my makeup around 6:50 and that’s when I make my breakfast/lemon water/bulletproof coffee. Most of the time I’ll get my breakfast together (which is typically avocado toast) and put it in a bag to eat while at work. This morning I was out of avocados so I had some eggs and turkey bacon. Aside from breakfast, I’ve been trying to start my day with some warm lemon water, which I make with my electric kettle. After that, I make my bulletproof coffee! If you guys would like to see a separate post on why I drink bulletproof coffee or what I put in it, definitely let me know!
When I’m drinking my water/coffee I will sit either on my couch or at my dining table with my laptop reading blog posts, putting finishing touches on the day’s blog post (if it’s Monday/Wednesday/Friday), watch YouTube videos, etc. This is my “me” time in the morning so I do whatever I please. While I have a routine, I think it’s important to still give yourself some time to yourself without rushing the entire morning.
By 7:30-ish I will put my things in the dishwasher and get dressed. This is what I wore yesterday! I love having this full-length mirror to double check that everything goes well. I’m trying to do more Instagram stories of my outfits so keep an eye out for those, too! I also make sure to make my bed every morning to start my day on a productive foot!!
Following getting dressed I’ll go back to my bathroom to brush my teeth and hair. This is my last step in the morning, after that, I will grab my things, throw on my coat/boots and head out the door! I try my best to leave by 8:00 to make sure I get to work by 8:30.
As previously mentioned, I eat my breakfast at work, so the first thing I do when I get there is unload my things, put my lunch in the fridge and eat! After, I start my workday.
