Five Things Friday #1

IMG_1276I wanted to start a series on my blog, but I wasn’t sure what type. I starting thinking about when I could post them and Fridays came to mind, and I brainstormed a couple ideas, thus Five Things Friday! Now these won’t be posted necessarily every Friday because I feel like that could be a little repetitive, but I was thinking about posting them every other or once a month (I’m not quite sure yet).

For these posts, I wanted to share my current five favorite things (I know, pretty self explanatory!) but I wanted to switch it up from just beauty, so I’m going to be include some fashion favorites sometimes as well as just overall random favorites! So without further ado, here are my current five favorite things!

1. Baublebar Gum Drop Strand Necklace; This necklace was a Christmas gift, and let me say… I am in love! I have worn it so many times, and find it to be my go-to necklace! It dresses up an outfit so well. It’s also extremely sparkly and shiny, which I love! When I wore it on previous occasions, I noticed the sun catching it and shining everywhere! This is my first item from Baublebar, but certainly not my last!!

2. Dior Pore Minimizing Primer; This is my go-to primer! I’m actually on my second tube of it, it’s amazing! I find that it fills in any pores, helps mattify my face and keep my makeup from sliding off during the hot summer months. It has a pump applicator which helps controlling the amount of product that you use, especially if you’re using it every day! I’ve never used Dior beauty products before this, and I’m very interested in looking at a couple more of their items!

3. Lancôme La Vie est Belle Perfume; This is my signature fragrance, I’m on my second bottle of this now. I’ve gotten so many compliments on this perfume, it’s nice and sweet but not too overpowering. It’s definitely a more mature take on the Pink Sugar Perfume (which was one of my favorites!). I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a great perfume.

4. Essie Naughty Nautical Nail Polish; I love turquoise hued polishes, and this one from Essie is one of my favorites! It has subtle hints of shimmer that you can’t notice until you’re all up close and personal with your nails, but that’s what I love! It’s definitely a “fun” summer shade.

5. Instagram; I recently restarted using instagram (@lifewithkendal) and I am obsessed with checking my feed! I’ve followed tons of new people and love looking at what everyone is posting!

What are your current favorite things? I’d love to know!

Faking that Summer Glow | Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector

During the summer, everyone is practically glowing! Whether it’s an actual glow from a tan, highlighter or even sweat, everyone is embracing it. But with me, someone who is extremely pale and susceptible to sun burns as well as having extremely oily skin, I can’t really pull of a good glow without making my oily skin look worse. But, ever since I found this Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone, I’ve done a complete 180!

Now I’ve used Benefit’s High Beam before, but I found it a little harder to use because it was actually in liquid form. I also found it a little heavy, but that may have just been me! When I was first looking at these highlighters, I was leaning towards getting the Opal shade. But unfortunately it was just too dark for my pale skin. Even though I have more pink undertones, I think this is a beautiful highlighter! I’ve heard so many great things about these and I finally picked them up back in March.

I’ve only tried two products from the Becca brand, the other was one of their primers, but I’ve bene very pleased! I definitely want to check some more of their products out next time I go to Sephora!

What is your go-to highlighter? I’d love a suggestion, especially if it’s a powder one!

Just Two Years Time

This past month I finished up my sophomore year of college, and all I can say is wow… how the time flies! It feels like just yesterday I was finished up high school and graduating from that, and now just two years from this exact moment I will have already graduated from college.

My sophomore year couldn’t be more different compared to my freshman year… first off, I got a house with two of my friends for next year, which is crazy to think about three girls living in an actual house! I also got a boyfriend, really blossomed and came out of my shell. I’m finally coming to terms with what I want to be in life, and realize that I need to start making my mark now so I’m not graduating with any experience!

I am so unbelievably excited for what the next two years have to offer. I’m studying abroad in January in Germany, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Poland, which I am so excited for!

The time flew by so fast, and I know now that the time is going to go by even faster! I have to cherish every moment that I can because it’ll all be over with right before I know it.

THE Summer Foundation

During the summertime, my skin tends to be extra oily. I may only make it two hours or so before I have to touch it up with a powder. But with this Makeup Forever Mat Velvet + Foundation, I can make it four or even five hours without needing a touch up!

This foundation is oil free and even water resistant, so even if you do sweat your foundation won’t get messed up! I use this with a Dior primer so I don’t have to worry about the foundation setting into any pores or crease! I used this foundation years ago and just now got around to buying a new one after I stopped using the old one, I realized just how awesome this foundation is in the summer. I would even go as far to saying this is my holy grail foundation for this time of year. If you have super oily skin like I do, I highly recommend this!!

What is your go-to foundation for the summer time? I’d love to know, I’m always looking for suggestions!
