My Workout Playlist

Happy Monday! I’ve recently been doing my best to not only eat healthy, but get back into the groove of working out. One of the best ways to get me motivated to actually work out is always a good playlist. So last night I sat on Spotify for at least an hour listening to songs that would be perfect for hitting the gym. I like to listen to an array of music while I’m working out, as this playlist is an example of. There are a lot of songs on the playlist, but I tend to get over songs fairly quickly (especially when it’s a workout playlist) so I like to add a ton of songs so I’m not listening to the same ones every time.

I’m currently trying out the ‘Couch to 5K’ challenge, along with workout videos that I just find on YouTube to help target certain areas of my body. If I can keep up with the ‘Couch to 5K’ I will definitely be sharing my experience with it. I really want to try to get back into running and improving my pace, endurance, etc. Running in Florida during the summer is not an easy task (you fellow Floridians understand).

I’m always looking for new songs to workout to, so if you have a favorite workout song please share it! Also, if you have your own workout playlist, feel free to share it down below. I will say, several of these songs are explicit, so just a warning. Hope you guys enjoy the playlist!

How to Stay Productive During the Summertime

With summer in full swing, it can be hard to stay productive. I know for myself, I spend most of my days at home watching television, occasionally leaving to run some errands. But recently, I’ve taken advantage of all the free time and starting (or attempting) to plan out my day. I’ve noticed a difference, so I thought I would share my tips on how to stay productive with you all!

+ Block out time for things that are important to you
If you have things that you want to start making a routine, it’s important to make time for those things. For me, it’s job searching and blogging. Those are the two things that I’ve definitely been trying to do more of during my days. My typical time to do blogging work is in the morning and night, so I know to make sure I don’t have anything else planned for those times! I’m also trying to get back into the groove of working out, which I’m still trying to pick the right time for.

+ Get out of the house
It’s easy to get distracted while doing your work at home. Aside from that, the Internet at our house isn’t that strong (you can’t even stream Netflix!), so I know that I have to go somewhere else to do things that require a lot of bandwidth. Going to places like a coffee shop or cafe can really boost your productivity levels because you don’t have the typical distractions, and you can explore new places in your area!

+ Pick up a hobby
I’ve recently been helping my dad cook dinner at our house. I will definitely say it’s a new hobby of mine! I love helping him make new meals. There are several other things that I want to try, like hand lettering, running, videos (possibly), etc. I always believed that the summer time was the perfect time to start, especially when you don’t have a lot going on.

At the end of the day, don’t be too hard on yourself. The summer is the time to relax and enjoy your time off. But for me, I’ve gotten a little stir crazy and have been looking for ways to increase my overall productivity. These are the ways that I’m doing so! What are your tips for staying productive during the summertime? I’d love to hear your tips and tricks as well!

My Skincare Routine | Summer 2017

I don’t know about you guys, but I used to always try out new skincare products. When I was in high school I got really bad acne, it was all on my jaw area, and pretty cystic. Ever since I’ve been determined to find the perfect products for my skin. I have combination skin, leaning more on the oily side, with enlarged pores that can also be sensitive and acne-prone. I actually switch up my products between the morning and night, so the routine isn’t as abrasive, and I really think it’s made a huge difference!

From the second I wake up, I immediately go into the bathroom to wash my face. Sometimes I’ll go downstairs and have breakfast, but most of the time it’s the first thing that I do. It really helps me get into the routine of it. If I waited in the morning, I would definitely forget. I highly recommend doing this so you get into the groove of it all, your skin will thank you!

When it comes to a cleanser, I use the Mario Badescu Botanical Facial Gel. This is for combination-to-oily skin, and it’s super refreshing. It doesn’t foam like the one I use at night, but it’s gentle and leaves the skin feeling balanced. I don’t feel the need to use a super heavy face wash in the morning since I wash my face right before I go to bed.

As for toner, I always want to make sure I use one that will help target acne and any problem areas I may have. I recently switched to this Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner recently and it has done wonders for my skin. This toner is 2% glycolic acid and helps target pigmentation as well as fine lines. As I’m just 21-years-old, I don’t use any super-concentrated anti-aging products, but I think this is a good start.

I also recently started using a serum for my face, which targets my enlarged pores and helps mattify my skin. This is the Origins Original Skin Serum, and it really helps with not just the pores, but also leaves your skin feeling super glowy. I used to stay away from these ‘glowy’ products because I thought my face would look too oily. But, I was pleasantly surprised with this product.

As for moisturizer, I use the Origins GinZing Moisturizer. This is a light-weight moisturizer and even helps to energize the skin! I feel much more awake after applying this as the final step to my skincare.

At nighttime, I switch up most of my skincare products. Since I tend to wear makeup most days, I want to make sure I use a cleanser that will deep clean my pores, etc. This Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser, which I use along with my Clarisonic, has literally changed my skin. Now, I know what you might think, you’re only supposed to use this two to three times a week, but I use it every night and have never had a problem. I still hydrate my skin, etc. as I usually would and I don’t feel like my skin is overcompensating or too dull, etc. I also follow it up with the same toner from the morning, the Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner.

During the nighttime, I try to use a heavier moisturizer since I’m not putting any makeup over it and just sleeping. This is the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream, and it is super hydrating without being too hydrating (if that makes sense). I make sure to apply just a thin layer!

Whenever I do have acne spots, I make sure to use this Mario Badescu Drying Lotion. I have recommended this to every friend of mine who has asked for recommendations about acne spot treatments! All it takes is a cotton swab to dip it in and dot it over your spots. By the morning, they’re dried out and definitely less noticeable. If you try any product from this post, this is definitely it!

The final product at night is a lip treatment. My lips have always been dry and chapped, unfortunately. I found this Nugg Natural Hydrating Lip Mask at Target and purchased it on a whim. You can leave it on for just twenty minutes at a time if you’re in a rush, but I like to leave it on overnight to give my lips that extra-hydrating treatment. Since I started using it my lips have been drastically better!

What is your current skincare routine for the summertime? Have you tried any of these products yourself?

June Goals | 2017

Happy June! I cannot believe that this year is basically almost over. If you graduated from high school, college, grad school, etc. congratulations! It’s still weird thinking how I’ll never go back to school and that I’m a full-blown adult… as of right now I still don’t have a confirmed plan, but I’m hoping for some news in the next couple weeks so fingers crossed and positive vibes!

I apologize for being a little late on my goals for this month, but I wanted to write it when I was back to the reality of being home, etc. Since I’m no longer in school I’m going to be doing one blogging goal and two personal goals. Hopefully, once I find a job and move to a new city I can make that the other category.

+ Create a blog series
Since I’m trying to get back into my blogging groove, I really want to try to make a new series. I loved the mood boards, but I felt like they got a little too repetitive for every week. I may go back and do one at the end of every month, or the beginning, in order to recap that month or help inspire myself for that month, but I’ll have to see. If you have any ideas or requests for a series, it can be related to anything, I’d love to hear them!

+ Read two books this month
I read one book in the first week of being home, and I want to continue that streak. I haven’t read another yet, but I have a whole stack of books that I want to read. I recently got back into my Goodreads and I think it’s a great way to stay inspired with reading. I’m open to tons of suggestions, so I’d love to hear what book you’re loving at the moment.

+ Drink more water
When I was at school, I thought I did a good job of drinking water constantly. But now that I’m home, it’s kind of slipped. I still have my huge Swell bottle, and I want to try to drink at least two of them a day. There are so many benefits to drinking more water and I want to make sure I’m doing my body good!

What are your goals for this month? I’d love to hear them! I hope you guys have a great month. 🙂

I Graduated! + An Update

Long time no blog! Apologies for taking a little bit of a hiatus. If you don’t follow me on my Twitter or Instagram (shameless self-promo) I announced that I actually graduated from college a little over a week ago. The ceremony was great, it was so surreal knowing that it may have been the last time all my friends were together in one place (fingers crossed that it wasn’t). The only problem was the heat, but at the end of the day, all that mattered was that I got my diploma!

Walking across the stage was such a weird moment. I don’t plan on going to graduate school at all, so it was the last thing I would ever have to do with school. No more tests, quizzes, homework or studying… it’s strange. Now, I know once I have a job that will all be replaced with working, but for right now I’m soaking it all in. Here are some pics of me and the family from the ceremony!

I don’t have many plans during my time right now. I’ve really enjoyed sitting at home and catching up on my television shows as well as reading a lot more. I’ve already started and finished one book and it hasn’t even been a week!

With that being said, I’m now back home in Florida preparing for a move, nothing official yet but hopefully in the next couple weeks/month or so. I’ve applied to dozens of jobs, but still waiting to her back (fingers crossed!). I’m ready to hit the blogging road running. I’m starting to brainstorm and come up with some fun series’ to start, so if you have any ideas please let me know. 🙂

I think I may phase out the ‘Mood Board Monday’ posts… but I definitely want to replace them with something! This week is going to be filled with brainstorming sessions, and I can’t wait to share with you guys what I’m thinking of.

I hope you guys had a great holiday weekend and a great start to your week!
