I don’t know about you guys, but I seem to have an obsession with perfumes and fragrances. But once I find a scent that I love, I wear it constantly. I wear it so much that people will call me out if I change it… I’m not even kidding. I once had someone tell me, “You smell different… not like you” when I ran out of my signature scent at the time and used a different perfume.
I like to switch up my perfumes depending on the season, for the most part. Since I’ve been home at my parents’ house, I have all of my perfumes in one place so I’m reaching for ones I didn’t necessarily bring with me to college. Because of this, I’ve rediscovered my favorites for the summer! On a personal note, I tend to like scents that are sweeter and cleaner, so if you like the opposite with perfumes, you might not want to try these.
+ Prada Candy
For the longest time, I was a fan of Aquolina Pink Sugar perfume fanatic. I had the lotion, hair spray, etc. I was so obsessed with it that I think I went through (at least) four of the huge bottles. But when I got a little older, I realized that I might want to look for a more ‘mature’ version of it, as you will. I soon discovered Prada Candy, thanks to my mom! I actually didn’t even know they now make new versions of it, Florale, Kiss, and Gloss (mental note to try those out). It is a similar sweetness to Pink Sugar, but definitely a more grown up version.
Here is how Prada describes the scent: Prada Candy is a fragrance with a novel olfactory balance combining exceptionally high-quality ingredients in excessive proportions. Magnified by White Musks, noble Benzoin comes together with a modern Caramel accord to give the fragrance a truly unique signature.
+ Bond No. 9 Astor Place
This is one of the most expensive perfumes in my collection (I have one other Bond No. 9 one that I completely went through), but they are definitely worth the price. I got this on my sixteenth birthday when my family visited the Bond store, that’s five years! I’ve only made a tiny dent in the bottle. The oils in the perfume are very concentrated so you only need two sprays and you’re good to go! It also lasts all day on me.
Here is how Bond describes the scent: Our Mesmerizing Eau de Parfum, Inspired by New York’s Most Vibrant Arts-and-Style Intersection. The scent, an intoxicatingly fresh spring floral. Notes: Violet Leaf, Mandarin Zest, Freesia, Red poppy buds, Orris (iris root), teakwood, Musk and Amber
+ Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue
This is a perfume that I only use during the summer! It reminds me of the beach and has hits of a ‘clean’ scent if that makes sense. I will say, it is a very light scent. It’s perfect for those who may not want to be doused in perfume but instead, want just a hint of something. It’s definitely not overpowering.
Here is how D&G describes the scent: Invigorating Sicilian cedar melds with the crisp vibrancy of apple and the guileless charm of the bluebell, to evoke the essence of a South Italian summer. The freshness of bamboo nestles amid a glorious feminine bouquet of decadent jasmine and delicate white rose. Redolent citron wood is entwined with voluptuous amber and a suggestive caress of musk.
Apologies for this being a super text-heavy post, but I wanted to include the summary of each fragrance given by the companies! I can’t describe scents all that well, so I wanted to make sure I did them justice.
What are your go-to perfumes and fragrances for the summer? I’d love to hear your suggestions!
