How I’m Banishing Dry Skin This Winter

With the cold weather now in full swing in Boston, my skin is starting to change. Being from Florida, I have always lived with oily skin all over my body no matter the season. While my face is still oily, my legs, scalp, arms, etc. are starting to get drier.

Since I’m from a very tropical climate, lotion was something that I never really used. I know it’s important to use it no matter the season or your skin type, I stayed clear of any lotion (besides for my face moisturizer). But recently I realized how dry my skin really gets! I went on a mission to find the perfect items for my face, body, etc. to help banish and treat dry skin!

For my face…

I have been using this Clarisonic for a very long time now. I have always loved it for getting a deeper clean, and have recently realized how exfoliating it also is! Now, I don’t use it both morning and night (I use it just at night), but you definitely could depending on your skin type. I use this in place of an actual exfoliator and love the results I get with it! (Note: I use the acne brush!)

My lips also get extremely dry and flaky. I try to exfoliate my lips every other day using this Lush lip exfoliator (shoutout to my friend Mary Claire for this item)! I absolutely love this because it isn’t super harsh and also smells/tastes yummy!

For my upper body…

This may be a bit TMI, but I still suffer from blemishes on my upper body. I know I’m not alone in this, but I also know it’s something most people don’t like to talk about. Now that the weather is getting colder, not only will it break out, but it will also get extremely dry. When I’m in the shower I do my best to use an exfoliator that will treat any blemishes without drying out my skin!

My go-to upper body wash is by Neutrogena in the ‘Body Clear’ version. I’ve tried the pink grapefruit but I was not a fan. I find that this body clear version treats any blemishes extremely fast.

I don’t use this every time I take a shower, but more like when I’m post-gym since I’m typically very sweater (again, probably TMI!)

For all-over body…

For the days I don’t work out and just want a great all-over body exfoliation, I use these two scrubs by the brand Simply Scrub. You’ll notice I have two scents here, rose and coffee. I love using the coffee one when I shower in the morning or need an extra energy boost, and the rose when I want to smell pretty and feel relaxed! These items are absolutely wonderful and even better, NATURAL! I have been trying to introduce more natural items into my routine and these are the perfect addition.

Simply Scrub has a couple scrub scents in addition to coffee and rose, such as soursop and chocolate. The scents are super fragrant and even have bits of rose and chocolate in it (for mine)! They are the perfect touch for an extra pamper or treat yo ‘self moment while in the shower!

While the Simply Scrub products were sent to me for post consideration, all thoughts and opinions are of course my own!

Now, most have these been mostly in-the-shower products, I can’t forget about my absolute favorite lotion! The Palmer’s Cocoa Butter lotion is my absolute holy-grail item. Not only does it smell absolutely wonderful (think hazelnut and even a bit chocolate-y?) but it leaves my skin feeling so incredibly moisturized for a very long time. I put it on after I showered one night and woke up the next morning with still soft and moisturized legs!

(Side note, I do feel a bit like DJ Khaled using this… major key alert!)

What do you use to help eliminate dry skin during the winter time? I would love to hear your tips, tricks, and recommendations!

I love the Eucerin Advanced Repair lotion for the winter. It leaves my skin feeling silky smooth all day long!

Ooooh I love these! I’m doing to have to try that Neutrogena Body Clear scrub. I’m personally partial to the Zoella Beauty body scrub (no one is surprised) and Nivea lotions. xx

I’m bad about using lotion, too! Must be a Floridian thing for sure lol. I use Nivea “in shower” lotion and I like it okay! I’m also all about Jergen’s firming lotion with self tanner. It’s one of the only self tanners I’ve ever used that doesn’t make me look streaky.
